happy hair: what we are using from supermarket to high-end

happy hair: what we are using from supermarket to high-end

today part of our team wrote about their hair tips and recommendations, just for you. whether fine, thick, oily, long, short, curly or straight, your hair deserves care.

— SOFIA'S SUGGESTION [wavy hair]

if your hair isn’t straight but isn’t curly either, it sounds like you have natural wavy hair like mine! I usually say: having wavy hair is a love and hate relationship. in one hand, wavy hair looks great in all styles, textures and lengths. personally, I find it really easy for my hair to hold curls or a full straight hair style. on the other hand… dryness is a real problem with wavy hair, resulting in frizz, knots, and fragility. here are my fave products for wavy hair:

drunk elephant's silkamino masker is a deep-conditioning treatment. I normally use it for a deeper weekly treatment. Usually on my self-care sundays I apply a generous amount on the shower and wait 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off.

olaplex no. 7 oil, my holly hair oil! honestly, this oil is so freaking good that there isn't much to say about it. I apply it on wet hair before using any heat styling tools. the best thing is that this oil is so concentrated that you only need a few drops.
last but not least: schwarzkopf gliss split ends hair serum. after blowdrying and using heat styling tools, I use this serum to give a final touch to my hair. for a drugstore product, this oil is a really good product: leaves my hair smooth and shiny, conceals my split ends and don't even get me started on how good my hair smells after using it!

as important as it is to keep your wavy hair hydrated, it is important to protect your wavy hair’s strength and elasticity. my tip is to use silk pillowcases, scrunchies and hairbands instead. I promise you they’ll be your best friends. ;)

— CLAUDIA'S SUGGESTION [unruly hair]

unfortunately my hair is just a mess… best known as unruly hair. and as the name suggests it’s very disobedient, since it’s neither straight nor curly and tends to frizz I feel oblige to find strict control methods.
there are, more or less, 5 universal tips to tame unruly hair:
  1. find the right shampoo with hydrating ingredients.
  2. never skip conditioner, if possible alternate with moisturizing hair mask.
  3. use styling products to control frizz.
  4. blow dry your air, instead of hair-drying.
  5. have a good haircut, getting rid of dry, dead ends.
I can also add, if you want to take this seriously, 6. not rubbing the towel aggressively and 7. sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase. if this is also your case, take heart because you are not alone! frizz is one of the most common complaints in salons, and despite the fact that the solution is not the same for everyone (because the root of the problem maybe be different), here are the best options I could find to leave frizzy days behind:
and for rainy days a little extra help from oribe imperméable anti-humidity spray.

— LI'S SUGGESTION [colored hair]

anyone who colors their hair knows that it’s time-consuming and expensive, but it can also give you a new sparkle. you can punge in with a rainbow and bright color or just enhance your natural look. either way I don’t even like to think about spoiling the final result by choosing the wrong products. my gold is to keep the color vibrant and rich after washing (and conditioning) 40 times! if these is exactly what you need, my choice would be:

oribe gold lust collection
: gold lust repair & restore shampoo and conditioner and nourishing hair oil.

— RITA'S SUGGESTION [curly hair]

curly dry hair is a real challenge but when you make peace with it, you quickly fall in love with its hardships!

all my life I’ve been trying to find the perfect hair care routine to make my life easier and my hair happy. I’ve come to the conclusion that the beauty of tight waves and curls (I’m between a 2C and a 3A, depending on the days) is that it requires love and patience to care for it as it deserves.

for shower products: for a long time I would experiment with different brands and intents to try and find what works best for me, and that was how I finally found what makes sense for my hair. If you’re struggling to understand what your hair needs are at the moment, I would recommend to try different things for a few months. here are my current favorites:

l'oreal professionnel curl expression shampoo: with a jelly texture, it moistures and cleans the scalp and is perfect for your daily hair washing routine.
l'oreal professionnel curl expression professional mask: although it is a mask and perfect for a longer application to hydrate the length of the curls, I also love it for a quick daily conditioning and let it sit until I’m done with the shower.

[honorable mention to the redken curvaceous shower products. It is my all time favorite but was unfortunately discontinued. however you can still find styling products from that same line.]

one accessory I absolutely recommend is a proper brush for your hair type, to brush out and style your hair (always recommend brushing curly hair when wet). I tend to section my hair, brush away and up from the scalp, and then scrunch the section to create a more defined curl and movement in all its length. this is my all time favorite that I could not live without:

denman d3 7-rows brush

finally, for a long time I thought foams were my enemy but recently realized that I was just buying the wrong things.

flora and curl sweet hibiscus curl volumizing foam: defines and volumizes curls with a light-weight formula. also moisturizes and helps to create a full-bodied curl pattern.
