tisci was born in 1974. he has eight sisters, something he says has influenced his design aesthetic — “I love romanticism and sensuality, maybe because I come from a family with eight sisters” he told the new york times in 2007.

he left italy at the age of seventeen to attend central saint martins in london to study fashion design. tisci worked for a number of firms after graduating in 1999, including puma and coccapani, before agreeing to a three-year contract with ruffo research.

tisci was appointed creative director for givenchy, haute couture, and accessories in 2005. in 2008, she assumed leadership of the menswear division. tisci's work at givenchy was greatly influenced by his gothic sensibility and love of religious iconography, which led to increasing sales. his time at givenchy was so iconic and really lead the way by embracing various communities that were long excluded from high end fashion. his looks were always very fierce, elegant, and modern!
