the importance of skincare: my rituals

the importance of skincare: my rituals

I started focusing on my skin too late. with very thin skin, I now devote a lot of my time and resources to it. from laser treatments at the avenue clinic in lisbon, or some very moderate fillers with the duo doctor melanie ferro and doctor margarida but what I can never ignore is daily skincare.

but when sould I have started taking care of my skin? our on-call paediatrician, doctor ana silva, says that "if we give babies nasal hygiene, vitamin D to help the bones, lots of nutritional care related to the digestive system and growth, a thousand and one concerns with play and stimulation for the brain and neuro-development of our babies and children, why not take care of the largest organ of our body?".

I'm not sure what it was like in my generation, but there's no doubt that the products I find for my 5-year-old daughter are reduced, especially for her sensitive skin.

I, on the other hand, started taking care of myself in my early thirties. late, I know. and it wasn't until a year ago that I realised there was no point in taking care of myself and then ruining it with the wrong doses of sun.

but I'm not here to teach you how to make mistakes. the idea is to realise that there's always time to go back and improve your skin. the skin is the first layer of our body, it exposes us to the world superficially. that's why my day-to-day routine has changed from 0 skincare to a routine that involves two morning and two evening duos, always with a brief cleansing ritual (I have to confess that I never go into this at length). and I'll be honest, I've reversed a lot of my mistakes, relying heavily on unbeatable cream brands like shiseido, impeccable treatments and, of course, saving my skin from further damage.

in the morning, I start with the skin filler day serum and move on to the shiseido vital perfection uplifting and firming day cream SPF 30.

at night, just before going to bed, I use the evening skin filler serum and the vital perfection overnight firming treatment shiseido. I've been using this duo since june and I'm loving the experience. it's been great for helping to fill out and add volume to some areas that the inevitable weather seems to want to fight. and the fact that I use a systematised routine that suits my skin also gives it some much-needed stability.

I confess I'd like to add an eye cream but I don't have the patience for so many steps yet. perhaps that will come soon because today CINCO is offering a shiseido vital perfection eye mask and a 15 ml vital perfection cream so that you can get to know the brand as I did!
